How to access your email via your iPhone/iPad

By using IMAP, you are able to connect to the mail server and have access to the same messages and folders, as well as accessing them with a desktop application like Microsoft Outlook, and via your iPhone or iPad.

On the iPhone/iPad select "Settings"

Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

Select "Add Account"

In the presented list of mail types, select "Other"

Select "Add Mail Account"

Enter the name, full email address, email password and any description.

Press "Save"

Select IMAP as the account type

For "Incoming Mail Server":

Host Name: mail.mydomain.com (replace mydomain.com with your domain name)

User Name: me@mydomain.com (replace with your full email address)

Password: the password for the above email address

For "Outgoing Mail Server":

Host Name: mail.mydomain.com (replace mydomain.com with your domain name)

User Name: me@mydomain.com (replace with your full email address)

Password: the password for the above email address

Press "Save"

When presented with the message "Cannot connect using SSL. Do you want to try without SSL?" select "Yes".

The iPhone will then validate the account. When this is done exit "Settings".

If the iPhone cannot validate the account, select "Continue Anyway".

Your email account should now be accessible via the "Mail" app on the iPhone.

If still not working, check the account settings, and ensure SSL is turned off, and outgoing server is using Port 25 or 49 (Windows), or Port 25 or 26 (Linux)
