Set Up Windows Mobile with Exchange ActiveSync
Exchange ActiveSync allows your Windows Mobile device to synchronize email, contacts, calendars, and tasks directly with your server. Follow the steps below to configure your device.
Step 1: Open ActiveSync
On your Windows Mobile device, click Start.
Then click Programs and select ActiveSync.
Step 2: Begin Setup
Click the Set up your device to sync with it link.
Step 3: Enter Email Address
Enter your full email address (e.g.
user@yourdomain.com).
Step 4: Disable Auto-Detect
Uncheck the Attempt to detect Exchange Server Settings automatically checkbox.
This ensures you can manually enter the correct server details.
Step 5: Enter Server Information
Enter the URL to your webmail server (e.g.
mail.example.com).
Note: Do not include http:// when entering the server information.
Step 6: SSL Settings
If your webmail requires SSL, select the This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection checkbox.
Tip: Using SSL/TLS is strongly recommended for secure communication.
Step 7: Enter Account Credentials
Complete the following required information:
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: The password for the above email address
- Domain name: Your domain (if required)
Step 8: Sync Collaboration Items
The Windows Mobile device will display a list of collaboration items to sync with Exchange ActiveSync.
Choose from the list (e.g. Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks) and click Finish to initiate the first sync.
✔ Tip: Ensure your server hostname, username, and password are entered correctly.
